Canadian WWII-era Mark II steel helmet, produced to the standard Brodie-style pattern used by Commonwealth forces and civilian protection units during the 1940s. This example is hand-painted "BURNABY" across the front, identifying it as equipment issued to the Burnaby, British Columbia Air Raid Precautions (ARP) / Civil Defense organization during the Second World War. ARP units were responsible for blackout enforcement, emergency response, rescue coordination, and public safety during air-raid threats.

The interior shows a name scratched into the metal: "Elmo Fink****", indicating personal assignment or ownership. Named ARP helmets are significantly less common than military-issue examples and provide direct provenance to local wartime civil-defense personnel.

The helmet retains its wartime steel shell, original paint layers, and period ARP markings typical of Canadian civilian-protection gear. Mark II helmets were manufactured in Canada, the UK, and Australia, with Canadian ARP units frequently customizing their helmets with municipal identifiers such as Vancouver, Victoria, New Westminster, and Burnaby.

Model: Canadian Mark II ARP / Civil Defense Helmet
Era: WWII, circa 1940-1944
Markings: Hand-painted "BURNABY"; interior name "Elmo Fink****"
Materials: Steel shell; wartime paint; standard liner and chinstrap (if present)
Notes: Scarce named Canadian ARP helmet with direct municipal identification; strong historical interest for BC wartime civil-defense collectors.
