Braun CE-500 compact hi-fi stereo audio system designed by Dieter Rams in 1977. Features integrated turntable, FM/AM radio tuner, and audio amplifier. Known for its minimalist Bauhaus-inspired design. Made in Germany during the late 1970s. Item is as pictured.

Dieter Rams (b. 1932) is one of the most influential industrial designers of the 20th century and the defining creative force behind Braun’s modern design identity. Serving as Braun’s Head of Design from 1961 to 1995, Rams established the company’s signature approach to product form: functional clarity, visual restraint, and uncompromising usability. His work shaped the global shift toward minimal, purpose‑driven consumer electronics and continues to influence contemporary design standards.

Rams’ philosophy, often summarized by his principle “less, but better,” guided the development of many of Braun’s most iconic products, including audio systems, radios, shavers, and household appliances. His collaboration with the Ulm School of Design further refined Braun’s disciplined design language, making his work a cornerstone of modern industrial design.

Today, Rams’ Braun creations are highly regarded by collectors for their precision, timeless aesthetics, and historical importance in the evolution of modern product design.
