The Archer Photo-Electric Relay System Exciter Lamp Unit is a vintage electronic component from the 1960s and 1970s, originally manufactured in Japan and distributed by RadioShack under their proprietary Archer brand. It operates as the dedicated light transmitter paired with a photo-electric receiver unit to form a complete light-beam sensor system. When an object or person breaks the focused light beam emitted by the exciter lamp, the receiver triggers an internal mechanical relay to control external circuits, alarms, or lighting.
